Olaven Review operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.
Olaven Review is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.
Articles are selected based on relevance to the publication's core focus areas: morning and daily routines, strength and outdoor fitness, nutritional practice, grooming and personal care, work-life organisation, and personal wardrobe. Topic proposals from staff writers and guest contributors are assessed against this framework. Topics chosen primarily for search-volume or trending reasons, without substantive editorial merit, are declined.
Writers are required to support factual claims with published research or qualified wellness writing. The publication's preference is for peer-reviewed nutritional and exercise science research as the primary source for claims about physical outcomes. Where published research is unavailable or inconclusive, writers are required to state this explicitly rather than presenting consensus where none exists. Brand communications, press releases, and manufacturer claims are not accepted as primary sources for factual assertions.
All writing submitted to Olaven Review is expected to conform to the publication's register: measured, evidence-aware, free of manufactured urgency, and written with the assumption that the reader is an intelligent adult capable of evaluating information independently. The imperative register common in commercial wellness content — urgency, aspiration by deficit, before-and-after framing — is not consistent with the publication's voice and is edited out of accepted submissions.
Every article is read by at least one editor in addition to the writer before publication. The review covers factual accuracy, source quality, tone consistency, and structural clarity. Articles that do not meet the publication's standards on any of these dimensions are returned to the writer with specific notes before a second review is conducted. The editor's notes are retained in the publication's internal record for twelve months.
Writers are required to declare any commercial relationship with brands or organisations mentioned in their articles — including advisory roles, paid appearances, sponsored content from the past twelve months, and any material holding in related entities. Declared relationships are included at the foot of the relevant article. Articles in which undisclosed relationships are later identified are removed pending editorial review and re-evaluation.
When a factual error is identified and confirmed — by a reader, a writer, or the editorial team — a dated correction note is appended to the original article. The correction identifies the specific claim that was in error and states what the accurate information is. The original text is not silently amended; the correction appears alongside it. Significant errors that materially alter the article's conclusions may result in the article being taken down pending a full revision.
Olaven Review does not accept advertising that requires editorial endorsement, positive reviews, or the selection of specific articles as a condition of placement. Display advertising may be considered for brands whose products fall within the publication's editorial scope and which do not require the publication to represent their products as superior to alternatives. Sponsored content, where it appears, is clearly labelled as such and subject to the same editorial review process as non-sponsored material.
